Nunthorpe Athletic Under 16's complete an incredible TREBLE.

Nunthorpe Athletic Under 16's have just completed an amazing season under the guidance of father and son double act Andy & Joel Guy.

A treble of honours is very rare in any league more so in a very strong Under 16 age group.

Their first success came in the league beating close rivals Sprarie Lads 5-0 to confirm themselves as Champions of Division 2. This followed with an excellent 1-0 win over Divsion 2 neighbours Stokesley FC in the prestigious North Riding Cup played at Stokesley. Most teams would have been happy with the double but the Guy partnership led their team to their third success beating Hardwick Youth in the final of the Challenge Cup on Finals Day at Hurworth.

Congratulations to all the players and both managers on an excellent season.

Nunthorpe Athletic Under 12's League and Cup Double

Nunthorpe Under 12's have gone one better than last year completing a memorable league and cup double. Competing at the highest standards for their age group Division 1 and winning the League Cup Final on Finals day makes this seasons achievements very special for Anth Walker and his boys.

Excellent performances and season from the Under 12's Well Done to you all.

Nunthorpe Athletic Under 11's Division 2 Champions

The Under 11 boys team guided under the watchful eye of Shaun Unsworth have been crowned champions of the second division following an excellent season where they remained unbeaten having won all matches except one which was drawn. They raced to the title in quick time being crowned champions even with 5 matches remaining. An excellent effort from all the boys concerned.

End of Season Round Up

The club have ended the season with many honors and some teams just missing out on honours

  • The under 9 team completed their first season in division 1 in a very credible 4th position. Given the strength of the division this is an excellent achievement.
  • The under 10 a's finished third in the second division just missing out on promotion for the third season in a row. Unfortunately for them they unluckily lost 2-0 to a strong Redcar team from the first division in the Challenge Cup final at Hurworth. Nunthorpe were creating many chances and were the stronger team in the second half but Redcar confirmed their win with a late controversial goal. Well played to the boys and well played Redcar.
  • The under 15's fell just 1 point short of making the promotion positions in a very tight competitive league which saw positions 2 to 6 sperated by just one point.
  • The under 14 girls unluckily lost on penalties in their Tees Valley Challenge Cup Final. After a great performance by all the girls they lost in after a lottery penalty shootout. unlucky girls.

And as we all know, success is not always represented by winning cups or leagues. Many clubs battle through difficult seasons, loss of players, bad luck and come out the other end knowing they did their best and represented themselves and the club with pride.

All teams should consider their seasons a success, the under 10 B team despite finding themselves elevated into a strong division coped very well with the competition and finished just below mid table. Similar positional finishes in their respective leagues for the under 12b team and under 13 teams highlighted the fighting team spirit each has and helped each team finish comfortably just below mid table giving everyone something to play for next year. So well done boys.

Finally a very tight finish was had by both under 14 teams in the second division. Both teams showed true commitment and determination throughout the season and particularly towards the end which ended with just a couple of points seperating the teams.

Well done to everyone player, parent, manager and supported connected to Nunthorpe Athletic after yet another great and successful season.
