Girls Football at Nunthorpe Athletic Junior Football Club- An Introduction

It is with great pleasure that Nunthorpe Athletic JFC can confirm the expansion of their girls football section for the 2024 - 25 season. For a number of years Anthony Lappin has been coaching our sole girl team representation and who are currently competing at the u18 age group.

Last season with the help of Josh Allen and a number of very keen u13 girl players we were able to introduce our second all girl team at under 13 age now under 14s. Due to the lack of representation at that age group within the TJFA we had to enter this girls team into the Russell Foster League which saw the team travelling around the North East. This season again with the help of Josh we have succesfully created a further two all girls teams, under 10 girls and under 12 girls teams both of whom are competing within the TJFA.

As we look into the future, such has been the interest we hope to attract further players at the under 10 age group going into under 11 next season to form a further team at that age. We are also keen to create an under 7/8 all girls team for next season and to continue our all girls team expansion. Nunthorpe can provide girls football for any one living in the Middlesbrough and surrounding areas of Nunthorpe, Marton, Guisborough, Ormesby and Coulby Newham.

Girls football is very popular aided by the success of England Lionesses and as a club we are actively seeking more girls who would like to participate in girls football, any parents who would like to be involved and help organise the Nunthorpe Girls teams and any other qualified coach or prospective coach who would help us to manage current and future girls teams, please get in touch.

Manager Anthony Lappin of the u18 girls team, like the club are proud of their achievements over the years which saw these young ladies grow and develop their footballing talent. Last season they won the girls League Cup. We firmly believe that its not all about winning but when a team wins a trophy its an added bonus and something they have worked for.

The club enjoys excellent financial support from all parents of our players and most recently from GREENERGY who helped the club fund kits for all of our teams. The club has substantial costs to cover to ensure managers, coaches and helpers have followed the correct procedures with the FA to allow them to provide this help. We provide ongoing equipment for teams including goals, netting, footballs and more together with refresher courses, FA Courses, First Aid Courses and DBS checks.
